Roger Stevens and Zak Newton came in well clear of the pack with Roger's nett par score one shot ahead of Zak to take the lead.
The rest of the field were tightly packed over a range of only 4 shots.

John Robert's nett 52, 2-under par, earned him a quota of 38 points to win this Quota competition.
In a Quota, Stableford points are earned on the gross score on each hole. The player's handicap is added to the total points to produce his Quota. In a Medal & Putt event, players compete to record the fewest putts taken during a medal round.
In the medal, no-one troubled par. George Field's one-over par was best. Several players completed the round using only 25 putts, but Peter Merry and Paul Fields were the most economical, both with 24. The Annual New Year Chalice competition, postponed last week because of the weather, was won by David Ayling, net 3-under par and 4 shots clear of the field.
David regained possession of the trophy after winning it previously in 2020. Once again, the weather deterred many members, but 6 brave souls persevered to play in this Quota competition, where Stableford points are earned on the gross score for each hole. A player's handicap is added to the total points score to produce his quota.
Keith Brown dealt best with the challenging conditions to accumulate a quota of 31points to secure victory. Six brave souls ventured out in near arctic conditions to play in the first medal of 2025. The weather had a serious effect on the scoring, but Robin Welland and Roger Stevens managed the conditions best, both returning the same net score. Robin was declared the winner after a count-back proved he had the better net score over the last nine holes.
John Roberts was the only competitor to master the tricky ground conditions and par the course to win today's Quota competition.

This time, breaking par to win the medal section of this twin competition. His 3-under par was 3 shots better than his nearest rivals, Zak Newton and Roger Stevens, each parring the course. On count-back, Zac proved to have had the better last-9 to secure second place.
In the second section of the competition, where players count their putts, Roger Stevens had the fewest, completing 18 holes using only 21putts. No-one managed to break par in this Stableford. David Ayling led the field 2 shots ahead of a set of 8 competitors bunched between 30 and 33 points.
